The Summer Sensation # 2

Rose Syrup is one of the most popular flavoured syrup. It has a deliciously romantic flavour and aroma of roses. Rose syrup can be used as a dessert topping and to flavour milk shakes or alcoholic drinks.

I have made a simple rose syrup as a base to mix up a refreshing drink.

Rose Syrup

What do we need:

2 cups water
1 cup rock sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp rose water and/or 1 tsp rose essence
1/4 tsp red food colouring

How do we do it:

In a heavy bottomed pan, stir together the sugars and water. Bring to a boil, lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and add the colouring and rose water or essence. Cool completely and store in a tightly screwed bottle.

To prepare rose syrup drink, mix 1 cup of cold fizzy water or plain water with 2 or 3 tablespoons of rose syrup. Serve with crushed ice or ice cubes for extra coldness.

I just made this last week, 2 cups water, 1.5 cups sugar , I added a pinch of citric acid and when it cooled rose essence & coloring.
With milk it is awesome...love your pic...add a little rose water and it tastes even better.

Thank u. Ur recipe is almost the similar to mine. I added both rose water & rose essence. The former for the flavour and the latter for extra aroma.

Thanks for this recipe. Can anybody who has tasted Hersheys Strawberry syrup comment on the similarities in taste? I had not tasted the hersheys for a couple of years. Only recently I tasted it and I thought it was pretty close. Maybe I have forgotten how rose milk tastes!

Pushpa, thanks for those wonderful comments! You made my DAY! YAY!

Thanx to u too. Well, rose & strawberry has totally different tastes. The former is sweet while the latter is citrusy.

Hey, u deserve it!!!
