A Parcel From Home

This morning I received a parcel from home. Of course it is filled up with all kinds of goodies. It is so very difficult to get them here in Switzerland. Most of them are merely unavailable here. I would say that almost all of my baking ingredents are from home.

From top left to right: Roasted peanuts, preserved fruits, anchovies fritters premix
From bottom left to right: Belacan or shrimp paste granules, canned mackerels in tomatoe sauce, oyster sauce, black pepper sauce, light soya sauce, condensed milk, dried shrimps, fried onion crisps
Botttom most: Agar-agar or jelly strands

Lakshmi~ Yeah, it is indeed nice.

Karthi~ Definately valuable. When hubby called me up in the office to inform, I told him to stay away from the box. I wanted to open it myself & explore the treasure.

Sarah chechi~ Ya ya susu pekat, asam, kacang .......... all die for.

Sumitha~ U r very correct. We don't tend to appreciate them when we r so close to them.

indianadoc~ Welcome to my blog. Yeah, we culd.

Kris~ Yeah, I knew bout the parcel but had no idea bout the peanuts or the asam. Ngan Yin peanuts r the best in the world. Others cannot even come close to it.

Pus, nothing like home eh? Especially so when u received all these items...brings back those nostalgic feelings of the good old days when back home all these are so easily accessible and all too often get easily "jelak". Haha! time for you to cook up a storm!

JP~ Ur very correct. Our truly kampung stuff r too deary.

RP~ Me too can´t wait to use them up.

Nabeela~ Thanx. Well, I´m both. A Malaysian of Indian origin. My great grandfather was from India. Anyway, wat made u ask me this question? ;)

Cooking theory~ Oh yes it is.

Revathi~ Thanx. Ur sure to c them coming up soon.

Lera~ I love jelly. Can´t wait to use the agar-agar especially when summer is drawing near. Those seaweeds r an excellent cooling agent.

Kanda~ Is it??? Yahoooo!!!!!! I´ll wait for it. Thank very much akka sayang for the trouble tat u´ve been going thru to buy all those stuff, packing them up carefully & sending them over. If not coz of u, I wuldn´t have got this treasure. *muak muak muak*

Sharon~ Ya lah!!! We don´t tend appreciate something until we loose or are away from them. I´m gonna cook up a thunderstorm tat u´ll hear it even in SG.

Menu today~ Yes it is. :)

Mike~ I definately am a lucky thing. All the credits goes to my dearest brother who made it possible.

Sailaja~ Yes u r rite. There´s no place like home. Now...... I wanna go home!!!!!!!

Love reading your blog but never make any comment. As I live in Perth, WA, our kampung items can easily be found here in most of the Oriental shop. But the not so good thing is, they can be a bit more expensive. Unlike in Switzerland, it is nearly impossible to send food product to Australia due to the strict quarantine. So I guess, whether I like it or not, I still have to pay for my oriental craving. Keep up the good work.

Nandita~ Thanx a lot. Yeah, it really did make me so very happy.

Flower~ Welcome to the blog. Very glad to c a fellow m'sian here. Poor u but then, at least there r somethings available there, though expensive.

A care package, so you dont feel so far away! My parents did the same for me, They sent me fruit cake at Christmas and one of my old favorites, marmite.
